October and the first half of November are traditionally very calm months in the life of an Orthodox parish: no Great Feasts and no fasting seasons! Early fall is a time to “catch our breath” in terms of church life.
We do, however, have several special events coming up over the next six weeks:
- Wed. Oct 10, 720pm: Special Class “Typikon 101: Understanding the Structure of Orthodox Services” taught by Zoe Zamora
- Sat. Oct. 13, 9am-4pm: Special Day Workshop “Orthodoxy in Real Life” with doctoral candidate Sarah Riccardi-Swartz (Vespers at 4pm)
- Sat. Oct. 13, 8-1130pm: Fall Benefit Dance for Jessamine County Food Pantry (1950’s theme/$5 suggested donation per person: all $ goes to food pantry)
- Wed., Oct. 17, 720-820pm: New “Catechesis Basics” Series begins (every Wed. at same time)
- Sat. Nov. 3, 9am-3pm: Training Session for New Post-Jail Ministry @ Providence Church
- several lesser feast days will be marked with Akathists and and other services, as noted on the church’s master calendar…
